Ring the Packer Township Freedom Bell!

We are looking for a few youths living in or associated with Packer Township to help us celebrate a historic Independence Day. This year is extra special as this is America’s 250th Anniversary.

Selected youth will have the honor of ringing the historic Packer Township Freedom Bell 13 times at the municipal building, participating as part of the synchronized National Bell Festival.

Where: Packer Township Municipal Building (2234 Hudson Dr.)

When: July 4th at exactly 12:00 PM

The Packer Township Supervisors will hold its regular monthly meeting on June 2, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

All meetings are held at 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly.

Due to the weather, garbage pick up has been delayed by one day and will be picked up on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.

Please be advised that during winter weather conditions, garbage carts should be removed from the side of the road as soon as possible after garbage pickup. This is to reduce unnecessary obstacles near the roadway during snow plowing operations. Thank you for your cooperation.

Any resident interested in the position of Auditor is asked to contact any supervisor or call the office at 570-427-8969. 

Special Meeting

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at the Packer Township Municipal Building, 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, PA  18255 the Packer Township Supervisors will hold a special meeting to appoint auditors and for general purposes. 2026 Re-organizational/Regular Meetings

Notice is hereby given that on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the Packer Township Municipal Building, 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, PA  18255 the Packer Township Supervisors will hold their re-organizational meeting for 2026 at 6:00 P.M. The regular monthly meeting will immediately follow the re-organizational meeting. The Packer Township auditors will hold their re-organizational meeting on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the Packer Township Municipal Building, 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, PA  18255 at 6:00 p.m. The Packer Township Supervisors will hold there regular monthly meetings for the year 2026 at the Packer Township Municipal Building located at 2234 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, PA on the following dates: January 5 following re-organizational meeting, and at 6:00 P.M. on February 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, June 2, July 7, August 4, September 1, October 6, November 2 and December 1.

Over the next few days, Casella will be picking up carts that may have been missed last week. If you still have Casella carts and would like them picked up, place them at the curb.

The current contract with Casella ends on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Casella’s last pick up day in the Township was Friday, December 26, 2025. The contract with Anthracite Waste Services begins on Thursday, 01/01/2026. The first pick up with AWS will be Tuesday, January 6, 2026.  

The Township trash day has been changed from Thursday to Tuesday. This will result in no pick up the week of December 28, 2025. HOWEVER, Anthracite Waste Services will pick up all excess garbage on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. 

Place carts at the curb by midnight on Monday night to ensure Tuesday pick up. Place carts at the roadside, facing the street, at least 3 feet from mail boxes, parked cars, poles and other carts.  

Anthracite Waste will also pick up trash that is in Casella or other carts. If you still have a Casella cart but do not want it, please call the Township.  Requests for additional or replacement carts can be made by calling the Township at 570-427-8969. 

There is no longer curbside recycling. Anything of that nature should be treated as regular garbage. Nothing should be loose in the garbage can. Everything must be bagged. 

If a holiday falls on Tuesday, garbage day will be postponed by one day. Garbage holidays for 2026 are Memorial Day and Labor Day.  

Garbage fees are billed quarterly by the Township. If you received a bill from anyone else, please call the Township. Garbage fees are decreasing to $96 per quarter. Garbage invoices go out on or about January 1st, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st. They are due within 30 days. A late fee of 10% may be accessed on late payments. If two quarters become past due, legal action will be taken.  

All households in the Township are required to pay for trash service whether the home is occupied or vacant per Township ordinance.
