Power Outage – September 28, 2026

Packer Township received notice from PPL that a power outage had been reported in the area of the Township Municipal Building at approximately 6:46 AM on September 28, 2026.

At that time, PPL estimated that approximately 439 customers were affected by the outage. Crews were working to identify the cause of the outage and determine an estimated restoration time.

Update – 9:23 AM: Packer Township received notice from PPL that power had been restored at approximately 9:05 AM.

PPL reported that the outage was caused by tree limbs coming into contact with power lines.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while crews worked to restore service.

The Packer Township Supervisors will hold its regular monthly meeting on October 6, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

Temporary Roadway Work – Roundhead Road at Quakake Creek

Packer Township is providing notice of temporary roadway work on Roundhead Road near the Tresckow Game & Gun Club.

The pipe/culvert carrying Quakake Creek beneath Roundhead Road has been identified as being in a deteriorated condition and requires attention. As a temporary measure, Packer Township plans to place two (2) 1-inch steel plates over the affected area while the Township evaluates and considers an appropriate longer-term solution.

Temporary Road Closure

The temporary work is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The work is anticipated to require approximately 3–4 hours, depending on weather, site conditions, and the progress of the work. Roundhead Road at the affected location will be temporarily closed to through traffic during the work.

Motorists and residents should plan to use an alternate route until the roadway is reopened.

After the Road Reopens

Once the temporary work has been completed and the roadway is reopened:

• Slow down and use caution when traveling across the steel plates.
• Be alert for changes in the roadway surface, including potential unevenness in the affected area.
• Follow all posted signs, traffic-control devices, and instructions provided by Township personnel or contractors.
• Motorists should exercise appropriate caution based on roadway, weather, and traffic conditions.

The steel plates are intended to serve as a temporary measure. They will remain in place while the Township evaluates and discusses potential options for a more permanent solution. The timing and nature of any future repair will depend upon further evaluation, site conditions, engineering considerations, permitting requirements, available resources, and other applicable factors.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to monitor the Packer Township website for additional information and updates concerning this roadway location.

Ring the Packer Township Freedom Bell!

We are looking for a few youths living in or associated with Packer Township to help us celebrate a historic Independence Day. This year is extra special as this is America’s 250th Anniversary.

Selected youth will have the honor of ringing the historic Packer Township Freedom Bell 13 times at the municipal building, participating as part of the synchronized National Bell Festival.

Where: Packer Township Municipal Building (2234 Hudson Dr.)

When: July 4th at exactly 12:00 PM

Due to the weather, garbage pick up has been delayed by one day and will be picked up on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.

Please be advised that during winter weather conditions, garbage carts should be removed from the side of the road as soon as possible after garbage pickup. This is to reduce unnecessary obstacles near the roadway during snow plowing operations. Thank you for your cooperation.
